Frequently Asked Questions
We are a Northern Ireland based company with over 25 years’ experience in installing & replacing Gas boilers. We are Gas Safe registered and fully insured.
How long does a boiler installation take?
Typically, if you're having the same type of boiler fitted as previously without relocating the boiler, installation will just be the one day (approx. 9am-5pm). If you're changing boiler type, or having your boiler moved to a different room, it's usually 2 days work. If it was to take longer, your price won't change.
Will you remove my old boiler?
Yes, we'll always remove and safely dispose of your old boiler - included in our fixed price.
How and when will I pay?
As HeatNI prices are fixed, payment is secured on completion of the installation. You can pay with all major credit/debit cards.
How to repressurise a boiler?
Different boiler models might have specific repressurising procedures, so it's always best to consult the manufacturer's manual for precise instructions. Remember if you're unsure or uncomfortable performing these steps, it’s always advisable to contact a Gas Safe registered engineer.
Here are some general steps you can follow to repressurise your boiler
● Check the Pressure Gauge: First, look at the gauge on the front of your boiler. This gauge will usually have a needle that indicates the current pressure. The normal operating pressure should be between 1 and 1.5 bars. If it’s below 1 bar, the pressure is too low.
● Turn Off the Boiler: Ensure the boiler is switched off and allow it to cool down. This is an important safety step before you start the repressurising process.
● Locate the Filling Loop: Find the filling loop, which is often a silver flexible hose with a valve at each end. This loop connects the cold water supply to your boiler system.
● Attach the Filling Loop (if detached): If your filling loop isn’t permanently attached, connect it securely to the system.
● Open the Valves: Slowly open both valves on the filling loop, allowing cold mains water into the boiler system. You should hear water flowing in.
● Watch the Gauge: Keep an eye on the pressure gauge as the pressure rises. When it reaches just over 1 bar (or within the normal range as specified by the manufacturer), close both valves, one after the other.
● Detach the Filling Loop (if applicable): If your filling loop is detachable, carefully remove it and watch out for any dripping water.
● Switch the Boiler Back On: Once the boiler pressure is at the correct level, you can switch the boiler back on. Some boilers may require a reset.
● Check for Leaks: After repressurizing, it's good practice to check for any leaks in the system.
This is only a basic guideline for repressurising your boiler, if you find that these steps do not work, it is best to contact a boiler installation professional.
What to do when there is no hot water or heating?
If you're experiencing no hot water or heating, this could be due to several issues such as a malfunctioning boiler, issues with the thermostat, or low water pressure in the boiler. It's essential to first check if the boiler is functioning properly and the thermostat settings are correct. If the problem persists, it might be necessary to contact a professional heating engineer.
What is your gas boiler installation cost?
With HeatNI, all of our prices include a boiler installation service by a Gas Safe engineer. There are no hidden costs with us. Our pricing is transparent and straightforward, ensuring you receive the full service from beginning to end without any surprise fees.
The cost includes not only the boiler itself but also professional installation, essential safety checks, and the assurance that your new system will be set up to operate efficiently and safely. We pride ourselves on offering competitive pricing that reflects the quality and reliability of our service.
How to flush a central heating system combi boiler?
Flushing a central heating system, particularly for a combi boiler, involves cleaning out sludge and debris from the system to improve efficiency and prevent blockages. It's usually done by attaching a hose to a drain valve on the boiler or heating system and running water through the system to clear out any debris.
This process can be quite complex and may require specific equipment and knowledge, it is best to leave it to a professional gas service engineer in order to ensure safety and effectiveness.
